Caitríona + Michael's colorful engagement at US Capitol Lower Senate Park
The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. And yet, sometimes, that's a good thing, and in return for putting your trust in the universe, the universe puts its trust in you. When Caitríona, Michael, and I arrived at the National Portrait Gallery atrium to take some beautiful air-conditioned snaps before heading out into DC's July heat... we were a bit flummoxed! Despite our calling ahead, the atrium was set up for a private event... and while the space was open to the public, we weren't planning a gala-themed engagement session!
But Caitríona + Michael are incredibly flexible, unflappable people, and we headed over to Union Station to bask in that air conditioning instead! And as it turns out, all's well that ends well, because we ended up checking all of our boxes for their session: a quiet corner of a beautiful building to get comfortable (check), some gorgeous outdoor greenery (check), and some iconic monumental Washington (check and check). I've seldom seen such vibrant colors in the landscaping at Lower Senate Park, either. It was, all in all, even better than the day we'd planned! <3
