Ali + Joe's rainy springtime engagement at the Enid A. Haupt Garden
Ali + Joe are rad. They're my kind of people. Joe has a really cool job at the State Department, and is enough of a photography nerd that I can talk camera language to him, and he follows along! But just to prove that DC is the biggest small town you could ever live in, Ali and I are actually fellow transit-policy nerds. Ali is a transportation planner who does really, really interesting work for WMATA! We've actually worked together a bunch outside of my photography, and it's been a delight to be meeting for that, and then get to gossip on the side about wedding planning!
Ali + Joe absolutely love the Enid A. Haupt Garden -- aka the Smithsonian Castle Garden, and it isn't hard to see why! This was a new spot for me, and while we had delusions of a perfectly-sunlit beautiful spring sunrise session, the garden is so gorgeous that it looks like a million bucks rain or shine.
When we were ready to dry out, we headed over to Union Station. I'm at Union Station every day (it's my office's Metro stop), but oh boy! Is it different at 8am on a Saturday! It was so quiet it practically felt like we had the place to ourselves. And then of course, we couldn't leave without a Metro-themed picture. And to think, Ali's red coat wasn't even intentional to match that we were at a Red Line station. Some things are just kismet!
